18 months!

I wanted to post this about 3 weeks ago...but, now that I'm so late there is so much more to say!
I can't believe H is already a year and half old, he is just so big! He is fully a toddler now and doing things I didn't know he could EVERY day. Here are the highlights of 18 months:

weight: 26.5 lbs
height: 34.5 inches, he is almost 3 feet tall!
shoe size: 7 wide! kid has monster feet!

New words: He can now answer yes, no questions with a "yeah", "noooo". Right now he says yeah more than no. He just started making fish faces when you ask him what fish says and says "ohhh ohhh eeee eeee" when you ask him what a monkey says. He says "ooowwww" for what a kitty says. He loves watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the mornings and will yell "Oh Toodles!" with Mickey. He also started saying "Oh Dear", and "Let's Go!" He's getting to be a pretty good mimicker and started calling Grandpa by his first name, saying "Hi Jon". He starting calling his lovely, "mammy" instead of lamby. He also started sharing his juice and snacks with lamby and pretending to feed him.

He's getting so good at putting things together, stacking and using his pincher fingers

He also wants to help with EVERYTHING

He likes to cuddle on my lap and watch Elmo's World or Thomas the Train. He is starting to understand the humor in some of the kids shows and laughs when they do something funny.

We also had our first emergency room visit this month when H swallowed part of a wood chip at daycare and it got stuck way in the back of his throat. He is fine, we just had to see a few doctors and wait for several hours for them to get it out and confirm that he didn't have anything else in his lungs. The next day he was back to his normal self. I have a feeling that won't be our last trip to the ER. H is so adventurous and has already figured out how to climb up on all the beds by himself! He wants to jump SO bad, he's just not quite there yet, maybe next month.

babies!

Not mine...but, I've had fun making blankets for my friend's babies. Now that my friends have seen the blankets I can post pictures on here. Well, Chels has seen pictures of the blanket, it isn't done yet. The miniature version is done, but I was not going for miniature when I started making it.

The first blanket I made was for my dear friends Bobby & Tyra who have been in the process of adopting a baby from Ethiopia for MANY months. It was such such good news to hear that baby Desta was finally coming home last month.

I love the little buntings that have been all over craft blogs lately and couldn't wait to make a blanket using them. It reminded me of the verse in Song of Songs that says "He brought me to his banquet table, and His banner over me is Love."

I used minky fabric on the other side of the blanket because it is the perfect weight for babies.

The 'work in progress' blanket for my sweet friend Chelsea's baby Carter (due in July) was my first attempt at piecing fabric for a quilted look.

It is minky squares on one side and flannel on the other. It will look a little different once it is actually finished instead of pinned together... but you get the idea.

Congratulations friends on your sweet baby girls!

budding artist

Here is my little budding artist at work

He loves getting dirty about as much as he does the actual art project...

our first finger painting experience

The cake he decorated for me for mother's day, complete with hand print and finger smooshes.

And face painting! okay... cake eating.

The cake was a surprise from Jeff to celebrate my getting into grad school! I'm starting a Master's program in the Fall for clinical psychology. I'm nervous, but really excited!

Looking forward to more toddler art projects this summer!
